Title: Cloud Glass?
Post by: BJB on December 18, 2005, 01:10:17 PM
This is another find, its a rose bowl, and I think it has been pressed/mould made,as I can detect two lines down the sides.

I does look like purple cloud glass, but don't know if anyone made these sort of items. The rim is rough ground under the plated top.

If its not when might it have been made?

looks more mould blown than press moulded, more purple slag than purple cloud.  And yes it is a rose vase (or rose bowl)  from the 1930s, possibly made by Wilhelm Kralik or one of the other Czech makers. Yes it is of high quality, and no, you do not have to hang on to the rather worn grille even if it is original.
Nice find, Barbara!

Ivo, many thanks for the info, I bought it because it seemed to be a cut above others I've seen.

It really is a grotty lid, and will try and find a replacement, or may try to clean it and see what happens.
