Title: Dartington 1976 USA Bicentennial Tankard more than one design?
Post by: marie anne on September 22, 2010, 02:01:55 PM
Hi,
I wonder if anyone knows the answer to this - I have recently bought a 1976 USA Bicentenary FT1 Tankard with the design shown below.  This is a bit different to the image in the Linda and Stuart Smithson Dartington Glass book and the Mark Hill book (George Washington's hair and cravat are different).  But, it is the same as the one on the Decanterman website  http://www.decanterman.com/Image%20Gallery/Dartington/files/page30-1009-full.html (http://www.decanterman.com/Image%20Gallery/Dartington/files/page30-1009-full.html) .  Does anyone know why George got a haircut?
Marie.

Lice? ;D

More seriously, maybe they lost the stamp and had to make a new one.

I wondered if it was something like that (a new stamp), hadn't thought of headlice  :hiclp:.  To my eye the designs do look quite different.
Thanks for replying,
Marie.
