Title: Brockwitz marigold set

Hi all,
Sometime ago, I stumbled across a nice set of carnival glass at my local flea-market. Surely, since I happen to like carnival glass items, I bought this set of glass tray, two cordials and a carafe (and paid 30 euros for the whole set). Only recently, by help of some Finnish glass enthusiasts at local forum, these items were identified as Brockwitz production, Koh-I-Noor -series items. After that, I also found some websites with Brockwitz catalogs.

But, I'd have few questions:

- how can one identify the items to be genuine Brockwitz production? Since molds etc. might also be exported later on to other countries, or some other factories might have copied the design (like Finnish Riihimäen Lasi has done with Brockwitz 'curved star' design).

- The catalogs that I found at one website show only clear glass or clear glass with gold rims - I find it odd, that there is no mentioning that this Likörsatz would be available also in marigold. Does anyone know, during which timeframe the marigold colored 'Koh-I-Noor' items were produced by Brockwitz?

- during my quest for more information about the items, I noticed that several Brockwitz items seem to be quite rare. Does someone know, how common/rare my items are at the moment? Also, possible value would interest me.

Here are also links to some photos of my items. The carafe and cordials seem to be unused OR very little used and cleaned thoroughly after every use (no signs of liquid contact). The service plate seems to have a couple of circular ringmarks, where the surface metal has disappeared slightly (size and shape correspond to the cordials).

Brockwitz began making iridised (Carnival) glass circa 1915. They continued to produce it for at least two decades.

I am not aware of the Koh I Noor pieces being made in Carnival by any other manufacturer. Studying catalogues and reading as much as possible is the best way for you to understand the “bigger picture�.

The Curved Star pattern (called Zurich by Brockwitz) was NOT made by Riihimäki in Finland. Different variations of the Curved Star pattern were made by Eda Glasbruk (Sweden) and Karhula (Finland) however there are very significant differences. In my opinion, the vast majority of Carnival Glass items found in the Curved Star pattern were made by Brockwitz.

Your Koh I Noor items are rather hard to find in Carnival Glass - they are lovely pieces; congratulations. Carnival collectors also call this pattern Miniature Hobnail.

Thank you, Glen, for the links and for all the information (especially correcting my mistake about the Riihimäki Lasi and 'curved star'). Through these kind of links and small crumbles of information, I am all the time learning more and more about the Brockwitz production.

Now, all I'd need to do, is to find four more cordials to complete the set...
