Title: show and tell - Karlin Rushbrooke jug
Post by: flying free on September 29, 2010, 10:10:40 PM
I bought this a while ago and as soon as I saw it I thought it must be Karlin Rushbrooke.    I wrote to him and he has confirmed it was one of his early pieces :hiclp: and said it should have been signed.  I couldn't find a signature  although the base is incredibly worn so it may be underneath but it has the most ergonomic handle on a jug I've ever held.  It fits the hand perfectly. It's very heavy and chunky and great colours.  I'm only on piece number 2 but hoping to start a small collection  ;D

Gosh, that's gorgeous!   :thud:  How is that green colour round the rim applied?

thanks :) Max I have no idea how the rim is applied.  What I love about it is the combination of colours and the finishes on the glass, the opaque glass rim with the clear glass and then the satin handle.  But I've no idea how the rim was put on  :spls:  I have some bowls which are opaline and have a black rim on them.  Ive wondered the same about them as well.
JP - aha, that is the problem.  I would dearly love a bowl of course but possibly never going to happen ;D

It's a trail that is brought separately and added to the rim before opening out. Known in the US as a lip-wrap.

Must be kinda tricky to get that trail in exactly the right place.  Thanks for the info Adam.
