Title: Sklo Union Glass Jardinere ID = Vizner for Libochovice
Post by: mhgcgolfclub on October 12, 2010, 07:24:11 PM
Bought this recently and pretty sure it is Sklo Union Glass , had a quick look and cannot find another example, sure someone will be able to , thought I would post it in case it is of any interest to anyone.

I only have the one picture at present , weighs 1.7kg length 6.75" 17cm.

12 concaved lenses

Possibly Frantisek Vizner for Rudolfova hut?  There are two vases shown in Marcus' book Sklo Union Art Before Industry on page 77 that look remarkably similar.  Yours looks as though the lenses are matt?  I can't really see in the book whether the lenses are clear or matt though so I'm not totally sure.

Yes to Mr Vizner though in the book the factory is listed as Libochovice, sometimes the lenses are all clear, sometimes all matte and sometimes they alternate matte and clear.

I know of four variations in shape and size in this design: http://picasaweb.google.com/Johnmj100/CzechGlass#5432668535923110994 (not the best photo).

yes my apologies, I was reading in dim light and picked up the incorrect caption.  It is Libochovice.

Thanks John and m

I think I must have been reading the book in the dark to miss the vase in the book on page 77  :24:
