Title: Barbini Incalmo & Sommerso Vase
Post by: horochar on October 18, 2010, 01:14:19 AM: I couldn't resist this Barbini vase. I like the combination of incalmo and sommerso effects. I have not seen anything quite like it before, and cannot find comparable pieces in any of my reference books or on the net. I'm assuming it is circa 1980s or 1970s, but (obviously) hoping it could be older. Can anybody help me to date the piece, or tell me more about it, such as designer or name for the series?

Post by: TxSilver on October 18, 2010, 04:29:27 AM: The signature looks like it is on the side near the bottom. Is that correct? This would indicate a more contemporary piece, i.e. 1980s and later. The company's contemporary glass is said to be nearly flawless, so it is a wonderful addition to a collection.
