Title: Victorian etched wine goblet - ID = Theresienthal
Post by: wildesantiques on October 21, 2010, 05:18:21 AM
Hoping someone may be able to help me with a rough value on this wine goblet. I was given it a few days ago, and someone else said it could be quite valuable.

I'm led to believe that it is Victorian, not sure what age though. stands 18cm tall with grape and vine etching. The yellow glass stem is hollow and it has little bits of blue glass blobs attached at the top.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Tim

Sorry to disapoint you. You have a German rhine wine glass, made any time between 1880 and yesterday, and possibly by a company called Theresienthal. Many German companies have produced this type of glass (like Ehrenfeld and Poschinger) and they are not rare.

For comparison here´s Stephan Buses´s great site about Roemer glasses from Theresienthal:

Dear Tim,

it is indeed the Roemer RA/I from Theresienthal around 1900.

Kind regards

Stephan
