Certainly not in the book that I can see - and measures about 1 - 2mm thinner than my other two known Chance patterns.
Since this one is octagonal - may indicate not remotely Chance since all the known examples are circular - but style of underside cutting, and most superficial characteristics seem similar. Thoughts anyone please.
-
Ooooh... errrr... I can the similarities, but that shape... I think we need David here...
-
Can we have a side view and a base view please.
-
in fact the second pic. is a base view - however, I will take some more pics. and post as soon as I can. Thank you both for your interest. :)

I have re-measured the thickness of my two known clear Chance weights - one of which is 21mm and the other 23mm. This one is about 20.5mm - and something like 85mm/3.5/16" from flat to flat. The central cutting is deceptively complicated, and a little work of art, and might be described as........'a central cut star, surrounded by a Star of David - the whole being bisected horizontally and vertically by single lines' - or at least something like that. There is no apparent difference in the overall 'tone' of the clear glass in all three weights, and the top outside edge is rounded just the same in all three. Let me know what you think :)

Humph, why can't I get easy questions? ;D
Not sure about this - it does look similar in style, but the pattern is not one that features on the promo card. Could another company have produced these, I wonder? I'll ask Tony Cartwright to see if he remembers any variations in these weights, but the blanks were made by Chance and there is no record of the moulds changing shape.
With regard to the pattern, as they were hand-cut then different variations would occur, unless the pattern is quite dissimilar.
Would welcome a photo for the next book though Paul... :)

my pleasure David - I will send in larger format off board.

I saw a similar weight on ebay a while ago that(according to the seller) had come from the 'Black Country Museum' shop,I've never been so can't confirm this,I'll see if they have an online shop and report back.
-
thanks Keith.. :)

They are online and have a shop but it doesn't show what they sell,I'll have to pay them a visit one of the days and see what there is,
Keith.
