Title: Uranium 'deco' thistle shape vase.
Post by: Paul S. on October 25, 2010, 07:48:17 PM
I think this sort of 'thistle head' shape is a definite 'deco' shape, and has enough wear certainly to take it back to the late '20's or '30's.      No marks - stands about 6"/153mm tall, and has a good quality ground/polished central pontil mark on the base.   It doesn't react strongly under the torch - but there is a definite glow.    The white sort of internal flecking is attractive  -  maybe 'pulled' up possibly - but whatever, is unusual in the way that it runs throughout the piece (reminiscent of some of the Italian thread like decoration).     Probably a non starter for an attribution, but thought people might like to see it, and thanks for looking. :)

Had these cobwebby herringbone(ish) on here before. Shape goes back a lot further than deco though.

thanks Frank  -  sometime in the latter half of the C19 then, I take it.   I will try the search facility a little later. :)

Only the shape, the rest is more modern.
