Title: Riihimaki Vase?
Post by: squizoid on October 27, 2010, 11:12:53 PM
Riihimaki Vase? I have searched the web but can't find this pattern, does anyone recognise this vase? 27cm tall, solid colour on base (not clear).

Don't know much about Finnish glass, but I do know that this type of design was popular in other countries for a while (probably inspired by the Finnish designs). I've seen examples of other Scandinavian, German and Belgian glass that look stylistically similar, your vase might be one of those. Sadly, trying to attribute Belgian or German glass is not an easy task, as so little of it has been documented adequately, so if your vase is one of those, you might struggle...

I think Riihimaki did design similar shapes, however my gut feeling is that this is NOT Riihimaki - not cased and also the colour looks a little odd.........

Looks like it might be another candidate for Empoli to me.

It looks  similar to Cari Zalloni designs for WMF, but I don't know if amber was in the colour palette.
See here for example:
