Title: Pigs, pigs, pigs ID=Cascade, Hazel Atlas, Holmegaard and Riihimäen Lasi Oy
Post by: Ivo on November 03, 2010, 08:02:20 AM
First ones are easy: Cascade (both have a label)
Second ones Hazel Atlas (confirmation?)
Third ones Holmegaard.

But the utterly stylised fourth?  Is anyone in the know?

When I first saw the title of this thread, I thought Ivo was swearing!  :24: :24: :24:

Nice pigs!  ;)  Sorry I can't help with no. 4 - although he has a decidedly Scandi look about him to my ignorant eye :vkg:

Just Googled evey permutation of Pig, Piggy, Glass, Bank, Bottle and others but nothing like yours Ivo.....but I will keep looking.
Was the pun 'sty'lised intentional Ivo?  If not, then it is even more amusing! :rah:

While on the subject - here is another pig in yellowish crystal which so far has eluded all attempts at identification. I know of a collector who has its twin in red. I also have an elephant from the same production - but let's stick to the pig for now. If you meet another denizen of the sty - squeal, will ya?

In the November issue of Homes and Antiques (in the shops now), there's a picture of the piggies no.3 claiming they are Riihimaki 1965-70??

Nah, they're definitely Holmegaard - they pop up with factory labels fairly frequently.

Found this Ivo, and I see Frank has confirmed it....see what you think:

Also, Pinkspoons, you are absolutely correct,  I have a Holmegaard one bought on holiday in Denmark....cobalt blue.

Now, only one complaint Ivo.......having looked at so many gorgeous glass pigs,  I think I am falling in love with yet another glass animal.......I do NOT NEED any more, but I am still buying more than I sell! :usd:

Ivo,  I just found a piggy number two (the larger version in the same colour as yours). Have you confirmed these to be Hazel Atlas? Do you know roughly when they were produced?

Many thanks in advance.

I have only ever seen it identified once, but cannot vouch for accuracy as I've not seen any paper proof. But I believe it is correct, at least feasible, and I think they have been produced for a very long time as they keep oinking up on me all the time.

Ok thanks, according to Wikipedia Hazel Atlas ceased to exist in 1962 so I guess they must have been produced before that.
