Could any one date this piece for me please.
It has Webb Corbett written underneath on the edge and a symbol which looks a bit like the outline of a plum in the middle.
7 inches high and 7 inches wide.

Sue — Benson & Hayhurst dates the pattern to c.1935, noting illustrated advertisements for it in the Pottery Gazette January 1936 issue and post-war in 1947.

Thank you so much, it's done well to survive in perfect condition for so long.
Such a quick reply again you are wonderful people out there in glass world!
-
PS Benson and Hayhurst you say, how could I have found out for myself perhaps?
-
Sue -- Bernard is referring to the following book:
Benson, N., Hayhurst, J., “Art Deco to Post-Modernism: A Legacy of British Art Deco Glass”, Liber Vitreorum Publications (London 2003)
-
Sue — ISBN 0 9545718 1 9. Ensure that it comes with its errata slip if you borrow it from your library. If you buy one from Broadfield House or from Nigel himself at a glass fair it should come with the slip.
It's an important core reference work like Dodsworth, Gulliver, and Hajdamach I & II, essential reading for anyone interested in C20 British glass. Usefully Nigel avoided repeating material already available in manufacturer specific reference works like Evans, Jackson, and Reynolds.

Thank you very, very much you're all wonderful!

Sue & Cathy — I happened to do an ISBN search for this little book, and, mysteriously, very little came up. Neither the British Library nor Amazon knows about it, nor do the Rakow Library at Corning and the Library of Congress.
I suspect Nigel forgot to send in the required legal deposit copy (preferably with the errata slip) to the British Library. He had one month to do it, see here (http://www.bl.uk/aboutus/stratpolprog/legaldep/index.html). He can still do it, but should include an apologetic letter and hope that the legal deposit receipts officer is in a really good mood, as it is quite likely to still be a hanging offence, or, at the very least, transportation in chains to Tasmania. ;D
On a more practical note, Nigel is missing out on sales to these great libraries, and on sales generated by the book's appearance in their catalogues.

I, too have done a search, I'm ace at spending hours online and achieving zilch, and that's what happened!
I wouldn't like to think that Nigel is missing out after all his hard work.

Hello,
Some very good points raised here. My thanks to Bernard in particular
If interested, see website (below) and look for 'Publications' within the menu.
Many thanks, Nigel
Edit: PS. The ISBN above takes you straight to the page, although it has the previous title. Nigel

Nigel,
What a brilliant website, but looks like more expense for me - great publications and information, anyone interested in 20th century glass, ceramics & arty things must look at it! I feel moved to use a smiley thingy though i usually can resist.:hiclp:

Hi,
Why thank you. Good to know that the spiders web that I've been weaving is working...Heh, heh ;D
I see the new name for the page now works, hooray! :) The url has been a problem, but after working on it earlier in the week (and losing a whole page as a result) it now seems to be working, phew!!
Thanks again, Nigel
