I've seen these in other colours (blue for example), usually sold by German ebay sellers, but unfortunately never attributed. It reminds me slightly of the Hlava or Lipsky pieces, but I don't think its one of them, merely something created in the same sort of technique. It could be German instead of Czech, but anyway I'm hoping someone here knows more.
The pattern is created by cutting or polishing a horizontally ribbed vase (the ribs can be felt more clearly on the inside).
19.5 cm high, 6 cm across. The rim is polished flat, and the base is also polished without marks.

If Jindrich says it´s not czech, my german candidate would be Ilmenau. Lots of misattributed vases
on ebay.de...

Yes, Hlava is especially popular for misattribution, it seems. And here's my vase with his name probably wrongly attached:

It´s the same seller - scroll down... ;)

I would say that this vase is recent Czech production based on design of Oldrich Lipsky for Exbor.
Some German eBay users know only name Hlava and use it for attribuition of any piece. Wonderfull story-writer is Lena21, she attributes really very free :-)

Thanks Jindrich. Relatively recent production fits the wear on the base which is not substantial, 5 or 10 years old would be my guess. I'm still happy to own this one, the quality is nice and the genuine Lipsky pieces are quite expensive (though I'd love to own one eventually).

i think it is WMF ... :ooh:
-
German would certainly be possible, I've bought mine in Germany - can you explain why you think it's WMF? I haven't seen anything in that style by WMF (actually usually associate that name with glass made pre-1945) but it's not like I'm an expert so any pointers are welcome.

i had a lamp with a glass base - the mounting was signed WMF - dated about around 1960 and it had the same colour and same pattern ! unfortunately i broke the glass and now i have a wonderful mounting :-(

I have nothing against, it can be wmf - I have not the exact evidence that it is Exbor piece, please keep this issue opened until solved exactly.

I've got almost the same vase as Astrid's... mine is 16cm tall and (if you look very carefully) midway down the piece, the green meets and goes around. The vase is very thick, and in my opinion, extremely well-made. :)
