HI all
picked this up in a massive job lot of paperweights yesterday. Ive found 2 websites with the same looking weight one stating its a PP1 the other saying PP6. Also one says its pre 1979 when they started using the P cane on all of these weights the other says pre 1978, I know its a close one but which (if any) is right?
Size is 7.5cm wide
outer to inner row 2-2-1-1 formation 3 centre rows, no P cane on a black (deep purple) ground
As always many thanks
Michelle

OK found another site which says the PP1 has 13-14 spokes PP6 has 12 and that this one (PP6) would date between 1969-1978 due to no P cane

Hi
It looks remarkably similar to the PP1 shown at this link (again courtesy of Frank Andrew's Scotland's Glass site) which only has 12 spokes.

 now i am confused

http://www.paperweights.com/perthshire.htm

The designs varied within PP numbers, thoroughly confusing of course :usd:
-
PP1 was large size (3" = 7.5 cm) and pre-1978 weights had a fire polished base and no P cane; number of twists, colours and canes varied.
PP6 until 1971 was only medium. 1972 to 1977 it was large, same design as PP1 ... but:
- central P cane, and
- base hollow ground.
PP6 was discontinued after 1977, when PP1 became signed and with hollow ground base.
Conclusion: the weight in question is a pre-1978 PP1.

Thanks so much for cutting through the confusion Wuff, will have to store this one to the memory banks (more likely find this thread everytime i forget ... my kingdom for a decent memory).
Thanks everybody
