Hello, Lothar.  My first thought regarding this weight is modern Chinese.

Yes, everybodys first thougt from the USA or UK is chinese.
But in germany we have (for exampel) JOSKA glas in Bavaria/ Bodenmais.
They are making weights, which look like chinese but it is german.

Gute Idee (other thread) - unterhalten wir uns einmal auf Deutsch ;-).

Leider muss ich Dir widersprechen: JOSKA importiert Paperweights aus China und erweckt beim Verkauf den Eindruck, sie seien deutsch :-(( .... zumindest tauchen chinesische Paperweights des öfteren mit "JOSKA KRISTALL Waldglashütte BODENMAIS"-Klebern auf ebay auf - was lediglich bedeutet, dass sie dort verkauft wurden! Ob sie evtl. nebenher auch noch in Deutschland produzieren, kann ich nicht sagen.

But one problem with conversing in German (or another non-English language) in an international Board, is that important information can be missed by those who do not speak or read the language.

It is probably useful to all to know that there is a view that Joska import items from China, even if they perhaps produce items themselves.
