Title: Can someone identify this slightly lustrous vase with included bubbles?
Post by: ahremck on November 10, 2010, 10:47:41 AM
I apologise about the blue background - the true colour of the glass is shown in the base and detail photos.  The vase is c.20cms tall and quite thick (c.6cms) at the rim.  The obvious included bubbles are matched with minute other bubbles throughout the neck of the vase.  The outside has a delicate lustre - only just there.  No marks I can see.

Gorgeous, base consistent with Chinese.

I agree, Frank but the quality is rather higher than I expect from my Northern neighbours - except for those huge "boat anchors" flooding the market right now.

Romania and Sicily were suggested as possible origins for these vases in the above thread. I'm 90% certain these aren't Chinese - certainly I've never come across these in China.
