Hi ,
I was wondering if anyone could help me with this piece of glass. I know it is not Chalet - they used these colours but not this base and it is not Lorraine as they did use this base but notz these colours. The consensus seems to be Murano.
It is heavy, flouresces green under UV light and it beautifully done. The base is well integrated - the piece does not seem to just perch on top.
Thanks!

Jindrich and Boda will know more than I. I am sure they can Confirm. I am just guessing here....??

Hi again,
My professional pics of this piece are too big re file size so I will get my better half to take some this afternoon and post again. I am a lousy photographer! Sorry about the itsy bitsy thumbnail size - can send the others if requested another way as have quite a few very good ones but as I said the file size is quite large.

Hi Deb:
Anne (MOD) might be able to help you will that -- then you do not have to re-take all the pics.....She is a Miracle Worker

Make a file copy of each large image and then rescale to an apt size would be quicker and easier than new pic's. Just add a 's' suffix to the rescaled file name to tell the difference easily.
Well... thats what I do.
I understand Anne is busy with family & other site matters.

.... but thats about all I can help you with... sorry.

Hi Misha,
Thank you - will do that with all my pics that are to be posted from now on! The ones I had taken for my site are obviously so much better than what I would have been able to provide! Can't believe I didn't think of that myself!LOL

Hi Deb. This *Glows* brightly. Do you have a colored pic of the Glow - as all I know there is a strong glow (uranium) glow -- then another glow (magnese) or something that also glows. Would nice to see a color pic of the Glow.
Do you have a base pic? Show any Good Wear on the Base?
thanks. Very nice lump of glass there -- Beautiful!!

Hey there,
Sorry - don't have a coloured pic of the glow. I would say not a strong uranium glow - strongest along the ribbing. Don't have a pic of the base either. Base shows typical wear and there is a small chip. There is no "wavy" finish (like on Lorraine Glass Industries star bases) - the glass is smooth and polished. There is also no pontil mark - it is a perfectly flat, smooth polished base.
Yes - it is gorgeous but id'ing it has been the bane of my existence!LOL I want to list it on e-bay but will not until I can say with some sort of certainity where the heck it came from! It certainly has stimulated conversation. I have another piece in exactly the same colour combo that was given the "Chalet" at the exhibit - totally different base. It also glows (would say maganese again). I think that since the Chalet glass blowers say this one is definitely Chalet (not marked though) a tic in the Murano side? Base in this second piece also smooth flat and polished with no pontil mark.
And to further add confusion - I have a "mini" with a star base in this colour combo(will have to take pics). It too has a smooth, flat polished base with no pontil mark. Barely glows. Not Chalet or Lorraine based on the eliminators of base/colour combo.

Hi Jindrich,
Thank you! Pleased to have a strong "No" from you - added to the "Not Chalet" and "Not Lorraine" from those experts - I guess the consensus definitely is for Murano then.
I appreciate everyone's help and will list tomorrow on e-bay as Murano unless I hear otherwise tonight. After that - that's what "Revise Listing" is for - correct my mistakes!
Again - thanks!

Hi Deborah,
this "negative" attribution is sometime stressfull, I understand. I know the Murano attributions only from eBay, so I cannot help more. Our hobby is for quiet people, sometimes somewhere the correct answer will appear. The fingers are crossed.

From the top your bowl looks very much like the glass that was made in Murano for JI Co of New York. The base is very different than what I'm used to seeing for them, however. The resemblance to the JI Co bowls makes me think your bowl could be from Murano. JI Co is Jordan Import Company. They imported pieces made by some of the Murano companies and also had their own furnace, from what I have heard. I attached pictures of a bowl that was made for them so you can compare. I wondered if one of the companies that made glass for them may have made your bowl.

Hi everyone,
Thank you all so much for helping me with id'ing this piece - much appreciated. TXSilver - I am headed to Google to see if I can find more details. I saw a piece very similar to that in Morrisburg, Ontario which is close to the New York border and I thought it was by Mosaic Artistic as very similar to a marked Mosaic centerpiece I had seen at the Cornwall Museum. I will take another and closer look the next time I am at that flea market.
