Can anyone shed some light on this 12 cm (not quite 5" for the accurate folk) vase which has an opal spiral and an opaque white rim. There is no pontil mark - but an opal circular discoloration as per photograph. Bought in the UK so probably British?

Looks as though a pontil was applied so that the lip could be worked and then, after the vase was cracked off, the scar on the base was melted flat using a gas torch. It's sort of Nailsea-style, but the majority of alleged Nailsea glass was made elsewhere, I believe, a lot of it in Scotland.

Thank you most sincerely, Chris. I had already settled down to an undetifyable glass object ( a UGO)...

Ugo seems to have made most of my collection too. We must track him down!
