Hello, I have just acquired a vaseline / Citrine glass bowl with lid and I wonder if anyone can give me a manufacturer and approximate date of manufacture. I have pasted a photo below. The bowl is very large, measuring around 20cms to the top of the finial and having an upper rim diameter on the bowl of 12.5cms. There is fantastic age wear on the foot so I am sure it is not a recent reproduction. Please let me know if you need any further info. Many thanks, Alison

That is a wonderful colour - but citrine it aint. It is uranium glass, aka annagreen, which in the US is sometimes called vaseline. I'm sure someone here will tell you precisely what pattern it is and by whom.

I have one too, but I don't know who dunnit (mind you I've never looked). Late 1800s and English (possibly) would be my guess.

I have looked thru both of my Skelcher volumes on U. glass - but regret to say nothing matching this design. A covered sugar or sweetmeat perhaps. :)

I have had two or three of these over the years. It is a covered sugar bowl. It is also a bit older, as it is flint (leaded) glass, not soda-lime. Every one I have had has come from the UK. I have never found the maker. I would estimate the age to be 1860, give or take 10 years.
