Hello. I found this unusual hand blown vase recently. I thought it was interesting because of the "crown" like top and the color. It's rather heavy because of the clear casing of glass on the bottom. It measures 6" inches tall and about 6.5" inches at it's widest. It seems to have some age on it, as there are a few scuff marks on it's base. Did I pick up another piece of junk?

sorry I can't help with your id but I think that is rather gorgeous - lovely colour and shape.

Well, thank you. I didn't mean to say I thought it was junk. I was just hoping I stumbled upon something special. I like it, but it's strange. It has so many things going on. I don't know much about blowing glass, but I think it would be hard to pull off that shape on top. The bubbles in the glass confuse me, though. There are so many bubbles that it makes it seem rather unprofessional. But, then there's the heavy casing of glass on the bottom. I don't know. Maybe I'm over analyzing this...

yes I see what you mean though. It kind of doesn't look as though there are enough bubbles for it to be a deliberate 'look' maybe, but there are too many to be 'just a few in a studio piece' kind of look. OTOH the casing looks good and the top is lovely :-\
I hope someone comes along and recognises the shape/piece for you.
