Title: Large Glass Geisha Figurines
Post by: dorian_graye on December 04, 2010, 05:17:04 PM
Here are a couple of glass Geishas. I have no idea of their origin.  The standing figure measures 14" inches tall and the kneeling figure measures 8" inches.  Maybe you can tell from the base of the standing figure?  Please let me know your thoughts.  Thanks again!

A friend of mine had a large Geisha like your standing one and it was by one of the better Italian firms either Barovier or Seguso but it was some time back, the head and shoulders look the same alas i cant remember the bottom half
i do know i envied it at the time quite stunning .

Thank you so much for your reply.  It's good to have some direction to investigate.

Here is an auction listing for a figure similar to your kneeling geisha: http://www.liveauctioneers.com/item/6262125. It says perhaps Salviati, so they didn't know either. The bid amount seems unusually low for such a nice piece. It must have been an off day.
