Title: Unidentified paperweights
Post by: kisslikeether on December 05, 2010, 01:16:21 PM
Hi all
Couple of bit here I've picked up & wondered if anyone had any ideas about them.

The first one is 115mm in diameter 4 1/2 inches in old money & unsigned - I'm sure I've seen something similar by Ditchfield with his trademark lustre.

Second is 95mm in diameter 3 3/4 inches & is signed OG 2003

Any info greatly appreciated  :)

Hi Kiss,

I collect a lot of paperweights and may be able to help.  Is the first PW (4 1/2" diam) about 1" thick?  If so, here is a picture of one that I have that has the exact same dimensions.  It is a little different design, but definitely contemporary.  It could have been made by the same artist with a different design.  It is also signed.  I think it is Nouret KM 13 93?  Hard to say if that is the exact name.

I have seen the other signature on the second one and will try to research further.  But I think the OG is an American Glass maker.  Oregon Glass?  Ocean Glass?  Or it's the artists initials, DUH......I am sure you have already assumed this.
I will try looking for the OG.

I hope this helps a little.

The signature looks rather untidy for Nourot - but could still be one.

Yea, that's what I thought!  But when I researched it, sure enough, it was Nourot!  Maybe he was a little ill the day he made it.  Hard to tell.

Hey Wuff.....Glad to see I am meeting people from all over the world that love Art Glass as much as I do!

If you go to this webpage:  http://www.genesisgalleryhawaii.com/nourot/paperweights.htm, look on the bottom left hand side of the page.  It was one of his "Cyde" paperweights.  I suppose blowers slip occasionally, when they have been near glass furnaces all day?  Or he just got sloppy.....I was just glad to find it when I did!  You would not believe what I paid for it!  Let's just say, "not much".......

Have great weekend!  It is going to be getting down to 20 below F. here this weekend, so it is Home Theater weekend for sure! :ooh:

Thanks Westred!
Yes the first PW is just under an inch thick but as you can see from the pic it has a dip in the base almost like a pontil
