Hi and Happy New Year
I'd appreciate if anyone could shed any light on this amber swan please? It has some pressed areas with xxx's or nnn's on them and the pontil is rough and kind of scratched out.

Hello Tramonto, and Happy New Year to you too...
On the swan, I really dont think it is Murano.
I think you would have more comments on the general Glass forum.
I'll move it there in a bit, after a few days so you see my comment.
Thanks for the post!
Javier

Hi Javier
I'd appreciate that, thanks.

I think this is the type of home spun studio glass from the late 60s / 70s which Butchie posted about a month or 2 back.
I can't rem what he called it so difficult to find that thread again.
I seem to remember there were lost of small makers of it around the US mid-west.

Uh-ho...could it be the Sooner (later) pieces that you're thinking of Peter ?(and thanks for responding)
-
IMHO Yes I think this is sooner glass, looks the same color as a brown beer bottle. Terry

Yep Sooner ...that's what I was thinking of ....and here's the original thread :

about 10 posts down ...look for the highlighted "Sooner"

Argh, thanks Peter...I had a dopey day when I bought the swan then. Something struck a chord when I saw it, and now I know why, it reminded me of my enormous basket - the one which started off the Sooner thread! Silly me
