Title: Help to Identify glass candy dish
Post by: Marie Chauvin on January 05, 2011, 12:07:08 PM
Hi All
I have a glass candy dish that's decorated with turquoise and gold blocks.  It looks to be from the 1950s and may be Fred Press but it's not signed.  Would anyone know the maker and the name of the pattern? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!
Marie

Perhaps Briard - I have something very similar which is signed.

Other designers were  Russel Wright, Bob Wallack, Culver, Gay Fad Studios and Libbey. Most were not signed, this is positively from the 50s. Briard's first name is George.

Marie, these will tell you more about Georges Briard:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Georges_Briard

and Google image search returns lots of examples of his work:

I'd have expected it to be signed if it was Briard though as most of his glass seems to be.
