Title: Clear pressed crystal vase, might be Czech, German, Scandi?
Post by: astrid on January 14, 2011, 10:45:55 AM
It was sold to me as Czech, but I took it with a grain of salt (can't find it on the Sklo CD) but I do have the nagging feeling I have seen it before (but none of my books seem to come to my aid here). From the style I'd put it 50s to 80s in the German, Czech or Scandinavian area (a bit too angular for French or Italian?).

It's 19.5 cm high, 9.5 by 9.5 cm at the rim, 7.5 by 7.5 cm at the base. Pressed crystal I think, I've seen faint press marks (and it's very heavy for its size). The rim and the base are well finished. There is considerable wear on the corners of the base.

Any ideas?

Astrid

It's on the board somewhere Astrid. I think Della has/had one.

Thanks so much, Anne, I'll put it down as Nachtmann. Was there every any indication when this vase was in production? I have one of the current catalogues, but I lack resources for earlier production.
