This pretty vase was irresistible to me. It is 4.5" tall. The casing glass is somewhere between aqua and turquoise over opal glass. The vase is iridescent inside and out. There is a pontil scar on bottom -- an oval with additional glass off around it. The oval looks a bit like the Fenton oval, but there is no writing. I've taken a picture of the base using flash. The concentric ridges are in the clear glass and not in the opal. Does anyone have any ideas who did this vase? I am reaching a dead end with it.
Thanks!

???
I thought the bottom part (kinda) looks like a Pineapple design ?? in a sense. I have no idea, but very pretty.
.......???............... Not sure if it could be Steuben...............???..........

Thanks, Rose. I am thinking North American for the vase. Maybe some of the Ohio-type glass people will check in the group soon.

I ran across a purple luster vase online made by Fenton. The pattern was different, but it reminded me a lot of my vase. The purple vase was not marked, but had a label.
Could my vase be Fenton?

Anita I don't do Fenton unless its 20's or 30's however if Dr. Measell sees this he will have an answer. It certainly looks as it may well be 50's to 60's (paper label) Fenton. If I have your permission to "borrow" your pics I can submit it to another board that has Fenton knowledgable members. Ken

Hi, Ken. You definitely have my permission. Do you need me to email you copies? Thanks!

I found a red vase in a 1961 Fenton catalog. The vase is a different shape, but has the same petal pattern. http://www.fentonfan.com/Catalogs/Cat61/Page12.htm. I think you are right about the era, Ken.

I got them Anita & posted to another board...will let you know of replies. Ken

I found it. It is a Fenton Jacqueline overlay vase. :sun: I was able to find one like mine on eBay that was described as a QVC vase. So maybe the oval on bottom is a Fenton oval, but doesn't have writing?? Does anyone know if these were made at an earlier time and the reproduced for QVC? Or if some of the QVC vases did not have the Fenton oval?
-
Anita my apologies, yes it appears to be Jacqueline from the board I posted to & take a loop & see if there isn't a faded logo on the bottom. DW wanted the kitchen redone (countertops, sink, etc.) & of all things the phone rang at 8:30am & the contractor said he could work from 10 to 5 (on Sunday which I could not believe) if I helped him out so he came & the day was shot. Sorry about the delay. If Dr. Measell stops in he can tell you the history around it as some QVC item were produced using old molds clear back to the early 1900's...I actually have an original piece whose mold was used to produce a QVC C54175, Fenton C7603WV item & he supplied me with the info on the old mold that he personally aquired years before & maybe yours is along this line. Pic attached. Ken

Thanks, Ken. There's no Fenton on the vase. There is the oval that is right in the middle of the pontil area. The oval is not elevated. It has an elevated line and a dot in it, but no letters.

Yes, it's Fenton. This vase was sold on QVC in the year 2000, and it's pictured on p. 96 of the book "Fenton Glass: Especially for QVC." The color is iridized Spruce Green Overlay (Spruce Green on the outside, Milk Glass inside). This is a blown piece, so the logo (Fenton in script with a small 0 underneath, all within an oval) can be very hard to discern. That's one of the things we have to live with when making handmade glass. The pattern, Jacqueline, originated in the early 1960s and was named for First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy.

Thank you, James. This one has been an interesting one to track down. I hadn't been able to find the color, but thought it might be one of your shades of green. I had thought maybe celeste. I had not heard of spruce green before now. You have saved me a lot of research time. Thank you.

Nothing much more, but just found another example of the pattern from the 1960's, and as jsmeasell says: named after the Jacqueline Kennedy. See Here same Pattern (http://www.cyberattic.com/stores/dlb9/items/1034432/item1034432cyberattic.html)
I imagine that Pattern would take some interest to you, as wasn't JF Kennedy shot in Dallas, Texas -- TxSilver? It is very pretty pattern (colors, and design). A keeper !!
