Title: Retro -- Cake Holder (Glass Plate Bottom)
Post by: antiquerose123 on January 18, 2011, 04:12:15 PM
 :hi:

I have this cake Holder that I believe is from the 50's era, as top part is aluminum.  The bottom is a large Glass plate about 12 inches wide.  I am not sure here who made this but thinking maybe ?? Davidson ??, but have not found a pattern name, or age....or confirmation.  Anyone have any ideas.  I am pretty sure the top Black handle is made of Bake-a-lite too.

Just never know what items glass will come in.

Glad this has a Glass base,  rather than an Aluminum base too.

Thxs

Not Davidson, maybe not even English. American perhaps.

Or possibly even French - Durand, Arcoroc, or suchlike?

Thanks for the suggestions -- I will keep looking around.  I did find a Glass base that looks the same as mine (except in that photo, they have the glass dish upside down) as mine too has those little rims, but I thought they where legs so you can't see the 3 rims (legs) as they are at the bottom on mine -- makes it easier to pick up the whole item.

Guess the seller never noticed that when they took the pic....but even so, that Ad has not maker for the Glass (but a maker for the top)??

As I have been hunting around here (on the Net) --- I never realized how many styles of these come in UV Glass...too.  Worth the hunt for a set in UV glass too
