Impressive large art deco frosted vase with heavy geometric stylised pattern (insure what it depicts). Measures 25cm tall and 20cm wide. No makers mark.

It could be a lampbase and not a vase. In the absence of any solid ID (at the moment at least!), are you absolutely sure there's no moulded name on the lower portion of the vase body? It might be very faint.

There are no marks/etching/letters anywhere, magnifying glass, held up to the light etc etc. It does have 4 flattened corner feet on the base to stabilise it. There are no signs of anything ever being attached around the neck, no chips/scratches etc) but a lamp base cannot be discounted.

I picked up a virtually identical item last week - mine seems purpose-made as a lamp base as the light fitting base is a very good fit and looks original to the piece. I am in Basse Normandie and the item was purchased locally.

Hi Ed and welcome to the board :)
thanks for posting your lampbase. It's a gorgeous piece of glass, albeit currently unidentified. Ivo has suggested Belgium previously, and there has been some new posts recently on Belgian glass so that might be worth looking into perhaps?

These do have more than a vague resemblance to the "Scailmont" pieces from Belgium.

Many thanks for the comments and suggestions - I've had a brief look at Scailmont and there's a strong resemblance; I shall look more thoroughly!
