This lovely duck is about 4" long and quite a 'stout' fellow.
He has a polished pontil mark, with some remnants of a hollow in the base.
I bought him ages ago, and hoped he was a 'Barbini' duck, but would really appreciate help, either with confirmation of this, or if not Barbini, then the name of the maker.
I am of course, assuming he is Murano?????

It looks like the work of Fratelli Toso, but not sure.

Hi there
very similar to 2Fratelli Toso birds I had, so would agree with TxSilver

Thank you both, Anita and Michelle, he is chunkier than I would have expected a Fratelli Toso piece to be, but I am comparing him with others I have.
I have just found this: http://www.carters.com.au/index.cfm/item/84241-murano-barbini-sommerso-duck-with-a-clear-glass-encasing-blue-wi/ , and wondered, firstly if it was the same maker, and secondly if the attribution was correct?
Maybe you could have a look and see what you think......it is blue, and mine is maroon, but the style looks very similar.

Rosie, I don't think the duck in the link is Barbini. It doesn't look like their work. It looks more like FT or AVeM -- someone along that line. The duck in the link is a totally different design than your bird. The bill, head, wings, and tail are different. I bet they were both designed and made by different hands.

Thank you, :kissy: this is exactly why I always turn to the GMB for help.....it is so easy for an amateur to look at these two ducks and assume they are identical except for colour, and of course Anita, as always, you are corect...there are a lot of differences I would never have spotted.
So do you think mine is FT then?? I will be very pleased if it is. :sun:
