could you take a look at my vase which has me totally in the dark,it has beautiful colours and a cream colour sandwiched between clear glass.8" high,no pontil mark,i am leaning towards Italy but have come up blank. lynn

Oh My !!! they are lovely,i am supposed to be disposing of this collection but seem to be keeping more & more ! thanks for the reply,it doesn't seem that in this case the Chinese are not trying to emulate any other maker but seem to be developing a style of their own or am i wrong...but never the less i like them. thanks lynn

For my own edification - how long have these Chinese items been around. I remember in my early days of glass collecting c. 1975 this type of glass was often, incorrectly, called cloud glass - and it was usually attributed to Venice, Italy. I do not remeber seeing any labelled chinese glass until the late 1980's and it was usually a single colour.

It has been around for quite a long time, I believe. My guess is 1970s, much the same as these (http://www.glass.co.nz/Chinese.html) . Once you get used to seeing the pattern, they leap out.

And in various background colours and shapes, always Murano ::)
