Title: Thomas Webb & Frederick Elkington, collaboration??
Post by: Sue C on February 16, 2011, 11:46:19 AM
I have a stunning little cameo cranberry glass pot silver rimmed and lidded hallmarked Frederick Elkington, and i wondered if it was a possible collaboration?

I don't know if the glass is Webb, but silversmiths often seemed to be retailers as well as manufacturers, so it's possible Elkington commissioned the glass or that a retailer commissioned them both.

Thanks Christine, i have been searching the net and the webb pieces i have found have very similar moths and butterflies to this pot, which is why i thought it could maybe be Webb, although it could be any other number of companies.
And i have just had another thought, while searching i did'nt see any Elkington silver with coloured glass? maybe i am just looking in the wrong place, do you know of any other pieces?
