Hi.. I'm assuming this is Murano... Does anyone know of any manufactures putting out something similar to this? I saw a few dishes/bowls searching, but none really with the same pattern. This one is like blown from the side and cut somehow. 4 3/8" Dia. Thanks for any info you might have.. R:)

Interesting and lovely piece. Are the green stripes flat or slightly raised? A picture of the base might also help.
It looks new to me, and possibly Murano, but I can't think of anything I've seen like it.
Good luck.

Well yes, one can feel the stripes a lot and the green ones more so. Is that common in Murano glass? Different diameter canes I guess...? Inside can feel them more than outside. The base is not ground or perfectly flat, just slightly concave even. The top edge is ground flat. I bought it at a South Dakota estate sale where I also purchased old Sterling and two old Navajo Rugs. I doubt it is new. Possible, but doesn't seem likely. Thanks for your reply! R:)

Could this be Gangkofner? I see striped items in the site: http://www.kristallglas-oberursel.net/Text/ProdukteHessenglas_Gangkofner.html

Anne: a really interesting site, but I don't think it's a match, mostly because of the answer to my first question: can you feel the canes?
It's not usual to be able to feel the canes as they usually consist of a thin rod of glass that's marvered into the body of the piece so it becomes a very thin piece of glass. Here, the cane pretty well forms part of the bowl. I think this is harder to do, but I don't have the technical knowledge to be sure of that. The reason I asked in the first place is that I have a strong memory of a Murano piece I've come across that was made the same way. Unfortunately, my memory is about 50%: I know I saw it but I can't remember where or what it was.
The asymmetric arrangement of the canes is a little unusual for Murano, but not beyond possibility given the technique. I've been looking through books and websites today and no luck.
It is a lovely piece, and I was hasty in saying new.

Thanks so much for your replies.. and that interesting website. I don't specialize, so don't have the knowledge of glass collectors... That sale was 2008 and I remember now I also got a lot of 3 pieces for $7.50... One of those pieces was a small signed Venini Handkerchief vase... No one else must have seen the signature.. I wish i had the other piece here with me which I'm curious about too. It's clear with many bubbles. Still sitting at my mom's house in Dakota.

Anne.. the cut looks very much like the piece 2nd row, 2nd from left.. but most of those have some organic shape it seems.. this one is pretty round.. hmmm
