Picked this up cheap, believe its Bohemian, but not certain I've seen this odd casing technique before as its color over crystal instead of what I normally see which is the opposite. Honeycomb pattern & there are a couple of places where the color casing did not adhere & its definately cased as you can easily feel the color layer over the crystal layer with your fingernail. I suppose its another common technique color over crystal casing that I've not noticed before, but thought I'd ask. Ken

Ken, I might be totally wrong here as I can only see and not feel this, but it reminds me of some wineglasses and an oil lamp shade my mother has which feel odd to the touch and have that sort of incomplete casing. Hers feel almost warmer plasticky rather than as cold as glass normally feels - if that makes sense? They seem to be a coating rather than a casing and I'm wondering if yours might be the same?

Thanks Anne for looking & you are correct its awfully difficult to tell unless you have it in your hands, however its good old hard glass not a coating or flashing. Not exactly the finest quality of glass making though & after showing it & talking with another collector it could simply be that the bowl was originally cased cranberry & the problem arose when the casing was applied. I probably just jumped to the wrong conclusion. Ken
