Title: Posible WF Experimental & knobbly ID
Post by: shugdens on February 27, 2011, 10:39:52 AM
Once more unto the breach, I'll chuck myself back into the fire with this thread.  :-\

I sparked Patrick Hogans intrest with an odd find in a huge huge room full of vintage glass I cleared last week. (its now all in my house). The left hand vase looks like it could be an experimental vase of some kind, if not WF then who?

The knobly seems to be WF but I'm certainly not an expert though getting quite lerned now. I'm going off what I was told with the 's' shaped rod, colour & ground pontil, the knobly isnt out of the collection I got last week.

Incedently what is the tallest WF swan, I thought they only went up to 8'' but theres one here pushing 11''.

Both vases are made around 1980 before the factory closed'  both are aqua flc i think the one on the left is a pattern 9863 dimple vase and the one on the right is a 9856 both very collectable check the whitefriars site 1980 cat for more info.

So its not an experimental piece it was a production piece? I've never seen one before. I actualy dont like it at all, the 'shoulder' vase that was in the box with them is ugly as well. I love the knobbly one though, I might keep it a while. I've given Patrick Hogan first refusal on the 'dimple' if hes still intrested now its not an experimentel.

Hi Shugdens, good finds not sure of the ovoid dimpled vase though, does it look more like 9865? hard to tell looking down

Prices on a lot of the range are struggling but after sky blue, aqua knobblies seem to sell well

For some reason the aqua and gold dimpled don't make as much as they should.

The swans 6" 8" and 10" but often stretch to nearly eleven, also some early smaller swans at 5"

The shoulder vase 9678 (what colour?) don't come up very often and sell well
