Title: Pseudo-peloton vase/preserve jar
Post by: Lustrousstone on March 03, 2011, 10:12:16 PM
This is another item I can't identify. It's either a posy vase or a preserve jar missing its lid, but I can't find anything like it. It has a pseudo-peloton pattern, which is not on the surface. I think it's thinly cased in clear over the coloured stripes, which are over the green. There is no surface texture. It's mould blown and there is a fair amount of wear. Any ideas anybody please.

Christine, isn't that peloton?  I know it isn't raised threads off the surface, but I thought it was done in the same way, just that the threads are flush with the base colour (or in this case, cased in clear so covered and smooth and also flush with the base colour perhaps)?
I have a modern piece that is done in the same way, I love it.  But yours looks old?  It looks to me as though it should have a little lid sitting in there and be a jam pot.
