Hello members, as a newbie I am just finding my way around, what I see is impressive.
I would like help in identifying some glass pieces I have inherited.
there are may items so I will start with the first two I can find nothing like them after countless hours of research I have drawn very little information, any help would be greatly appreciated.
First there is a very weighty but gorgeous piece of glass that is of the utmost quality and clarity the nearest quality I have seen is the lighthouse lens glass in Birmingham science museum.
I think it may be a desktop object but have been given the opinion that it is a caviar or butter dish!
The only company I can think of is Chance though I think Dave may prove me wrong.

Hello and welcome,this does not resemble any Chance piece I've ever seen,it looks like 'cut glass'(crystal) to me and unless it is a known design it will be difficult to attribute it to a particular factory,look forward to seeing your other pieces hope I can be of more help with those ;D

Nor does it look like a desk item: an ash tray perhaps. It looks cut as Keith says; is it?

You need to start a new thread for each item so we don't get confused please. I also meant you to use the attach facility at the bottom of the posting window; it's not so heavy on the bandwidth as pasting your pictures. If you resize high-res pictures so the maximum dimension is about 700 pixels, you should have just the sort of picture we need. The board converts your attachments to thumbnails for you.

Mod: I have split the Bohemian vase out as a new thread. And I have created less general titles for each thread.
"bygoneboy" made the following comments in that posting relating to the cut clear glass item: Hi folks, many thanks for your replies I will take that advice and post the picture itself rather than a click n link, just need to re-size it down as the pics are huge. The size of this piece is 4.5" square x 2" tall the well in it is 2.5" diameter weighing in at 1.1kg
I did consider that it was an inkwell stand but came to the conclusion that it would be prone to spillage if rocked accidentally, of course the ink well may be separate and this is just the stand for it and the well would have it's own lid.
