Title: I think it's french but who by?

Unfortunately heavily repolished, This is a miniature circa 1.5 inches however a beauty and fiinely detailed. Any views on who made it and when?

Hi Andrew,

What a pretty little weight!  Would you be able to post clearer photos, including one of the base?  I looked at George Kulles, Identifying Antique Paperweights, Millefiori and if there are 14 teeth on the cog canes then your weight may be St Louis, Bacchus, or Gillinder.  If this is the case, my thought would be St Louis.

Good Morning, Andrew.

It looks as if the "muslin strands are drawn to the center of the base".  Although this is not an exact quote, you will find this informationon on pg 42 of Kulles Identifying Antique Paperweights, Millefiori.  I only started to notice the differences in muslin recently.  Kulles books are great paperweight library references to have handy.

Ooops! :pb:  I meant to include in the above post that the muslin in your weight is another indicator it is antique St Louis.

IMHO, it is Saint-Louis, or perhaps Saint Louis. Or maybe even Saint-Louis.

I wish I had found it...despite the repolishing ;D
