Title: Vase ID Please?
Post by: roger-roger on March 06, 2011, 11:52:35 AM
Hi can you ID this vase I picked up from a car boot this week? It looks Scandinavian & is purple H22.5cm W12.5. Thanks Roger  :)

Hi Roger,

A picture of the base (unless it's polished flat, but then it's good to mention that) might help some people. I'm not very well at home in Scandinavian glass, but it might also be German (in which case I haven't seen it so far), or it could even be a modern retro piece. It helps to know in which country you are located or found the piece.

Astrid

certainly bears a strong resemblence to the Swedish Gullaskruf pieces - the colour is o.k. - the 'kicked' bottom is o.k., and even the obliquely cut mouth was theirs at times.  Hope someone else can confirm or otherwise :)

Does it have an uneven surface inside the hollow bit in the base? It looks as if it might have a heat-finished pontil scar..... or do you think it could be mould blown?

I'm wondering if you would be kind enough to try to put something in your titles - (perhaps the colour and/or shape of the piece in question?) which would make it easier for us to tell which of your posts is which - I'm getting confused with all the "vase id please-es".
