Tempted to say Empoli but the pontil mark seems to be circular (blowpipe) and snapped off - do I see that correctly?
-
sorry no help here, but a question - does it have controlled bubbles? or is that reflections I can see.

It's rather gorgeous :) is the sticky out bit on the side, supposed to be a sort of stylised handle I wonder, so is it a stylised jug type thing? I love the bubbles at the bottom and the colour. Really nice piece.
Is the base indented?

Thank you for your comments...I understand the thoughts as possible jug like shape but i think viewing it 'handle' point out (see pic one)..it looks like very modern arty almost face like,it can't have practical uses as the rim is not uniformed or shaped..The base is smooth except where the pontil has been snapped off leaving a small rough indentation. It is very well made and very heavy :rn:.

The blowpipe finish is very Biot, so are the bubbles. But it does not follow their production standards. So the best I can come up with is someone took a glassblowing course at Biot (they do, reasonable prices too!) and this was the result.

Do I see a "veil" of differently coloured enamels around the bubbles?

Hi Scott :hi: I have been following this thread with interest, and it did occur to me that it could be an apprentice piece with different techniques all on one piece. ie the pouring lip, the handle, the heavy base and the controlled bubbles. A bit like a sewing sampler, with no practical use, but perhaps just to demonstrate competence in differnt techniques........Just a thought anyway.
John ( my OH,) wondered if it might be a type of drinking vessel worn round the neck....a bit like the Holmegaard glasses.....might this be a possibility?
-
Scott says it's very heavy, so no, not unless concrete overshoes were unavailable.
-
:rn:.... Thank you all for your interest on this piece..I can confirm that this could'nt be worn around the neck unless you have a neck like mike tyson...
This piece has larger bubbles and is surrounded by tiny little bubbles giving it a cloudy effect from base upto approx half way up piece..The glass looks to be olive green with a slightly darker base.Hope this info helps to indentify it ..... :rn: Scott

How big is it please Scott??
-
:24: This piece stands just over 6 inches and is 6 inch wide at its widest point...It is 4 inches across the base.....Scott :rn:

Have you heard of Robert Rynearson Jr.?
He makes vessels a bit similar....here is a link.....probably a wild goose chase but an interesting one!

Have a peek anyway....interesting glass. :usd:

:rn: Thanks for the kind reply,i have never heard of Mr Robert Rynearson before,i quite like the abstract of his glass...i can see why you threw his name in the hat..but the search for the maker goes on...
-
I didn't think he was the maker Scott, but sometimes when you are looking for something, you stumble on something else that is interesting....I just put 'odd shaped vessel with bubbles' in the search engine, and that came up.....................on with the search............. :wsh:
