I feel these maybe salts but never seen any like this with square feet before they are blown and have tiny pontils underneath the person i purchased them from said they were her mothers late mothers and she was in her 50s so maybe good age im not so sure? Although they have been wrapped up in a box for years! Im wondering would they be classed as cranberry salts and maybe bohemian but age?
Measuring 2" approx both tall and wide any ideas? :smg:

I would agree that "cranberry (flashed) salt" would be a reasonable description. As for place and age ... hmmmm? The feet look sort of "modern" to me.
And to help out Sue ("chopin-lizst") in her campaign on certain terminology ...

A pontil is an iron rod used to hold the item during working. A "pontil scar" is what is left when the item is cracked off the iron and the base is yet to be "finished". If left "unfinished" then the "cracked off" part is the "pontil scar". If it is neatly "finished" with grinding and polishing then it could be called a "pontil area" but simply "base finished with polishing" would be more accurate.
Yes, I know that "pontil" is a term widely used for all sorts of base finishes by many folk, especially in the in the USA, and also by countless people on eBay (etc.) ... but it ain't right, and I have taken to occasionally supporting Sue in her efforts to change the world on this one. :)
