Is this little pressed glass rocking baby crib meant for a doll's house? I can't imagine it being an open salt as it rocks, so may be not ideal for the table. Or perhaps its just a novelty item bought for a newborn? It measures 4" x 2" x 2" approx. No markings. Not particularly well made.
I thought it might have been made by one of the minor English glass manufacturers, but haven't found anything remotely like it - yet.
Any thoughts would be more than welcome ;)

My wife and I have one in amber, and I'll look for marks etc. later today but I don't recall anything. I agree that function isn't a key here, it's simply a novelty item.
We're looking forward to being in the Stourbridge area for 2 weeks in May.

No registry or other marks on our amber example. I'd say ours is "made well" as there are just a few crizzles and the typical shear mark, but no stones, no seeds, no press out, and just a little press up.

Thank you for taking the time to look and to reply. If I'm lucky enough to find anything about the piece, I'll report back :)

Hi Anne, :hi: Might it be American? I wondered if it was one of the candy dishes like the little cottage I asked about a little while ago?
I found this, and although it is a little bigger, it seems to be of the same ilk....

Again, it isn't the same, but I got this from the link that Rose gave me for candy containers...

Worth a look?

Thanks Rosie. That looks promising  I'll widen my search a little.
Many thanks.

oooooooooo what a coincidence, I have one of these in my cabinet but haven't had the time to do any research yet so will keep popping in, in the event that someone can identify :D

I think I recall one of these in blue on eBay (many months ago) that I missed bidding for.

I have exactly the same one as Anne

I saw this today, and thought it might be a good excuse for a nudge to your baby crib Anne.

Thanks for that Rosie. It seems to be multi-functional ;D I keep small batteries in mine.
I do like the blue version much better than my flint one.
