Hi, I'm fairly new to all this and would be grateful If someone could give me any information relating to the Factory, Era and designer of this unusual metal footed piece, not seen anything similar anywhere.
-
How tall is it? it looks designed to hold something flat; paper or card - napkins maybe?
-
Posh menu holder?

Hi, sorry, didn't think to give dimensions, its 9" tall, 3" wide and 2 3/4" deep. I did think it reminded me of a letter rack.

Hi there, I am thinking it is Polish, maybe German. Any marks on the silver foot. It should be marked somewhere, sometimes very small. It looks like a 1970's style candle holder. It would look lovely with a votive in it.

Hi Suzzi, No can't find any marks on it at all, been all over it with an eye glass and there is nothing to be seen. There are what looks like glue remnants on the underside that would indicate that it has had a sticker on it at some point. Just tried to put a tea light in the centre and although it would fit it does not sit level which could indicate that it was not meant to be used as a Votive, although it would look nice lit like that. Thanks

Not that this helps with ID, but I just spotted this item on ebay, same shape: [Link (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110664406328&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT)]
I've seen several different shapes in this type of glass (never with the metal base though). I always thought they were maybe Murano or Canadian, although the glass seems a bit thick for Canadian glass, to me anyway. Could probably just as easily be Polish or Chinese though.

Hi Wayne, thanks for that, I've checked out the link and it does look very similar excluding the metal foot. I'll keep digging to see what I can turn up.
Cheers. Dave
