Mod: Sorry Roger, but we do not permit the use of eBay seller's images on this Board as it contravenes copyright [unless you have permission from the owner of the image]. The image has therefore been replaced with a link to the completed eBay listing:

The canes are, I beleive, from Murano, but whether they are early, mid- or later 20th century I do not know.

Certainly Murano canes, and not antique English (Whitefriars made very little in the way of millefiori items before 1950). I suspect mid 20th Century.

Hi all, yes as I had suspected when I did research (afterward). Should have twigged that earlier before the purchase but was intrigued by the canes and very neat concentric. The colours do look rather 1950ish I guess. I didn't say anything on the posting because I didn't want to influence anybodys opinion. £150 is about double what I should have paid I guess? Regards foolishly Roger.

Hi Roger.
It is hard to put a 'typical' price on your bottle, because they are not common items, but I would have thought that £150 was on the high side. The Chinese bottles seem to fetch £30 - £50, whereas the genuine Old English fetch £150 - £400, depending upon size, quality and condition. I recall seeing a fairly similar Murano bottle sell a couple of years ago for about £65, I think.

Have notified seller of description error and he (Andrew) immediately refunded the money to my Paypal account and the bottle will remain in his possession of course. I am in no doubt it was a genuine mistake by a reputable seller. It was a very interesting bottle never the less and worth looking at if it comes up for sale again with the correct description. Many thanks for your comments, very usefull , Regards Roger.

As a point of interest take a look at the base of the inkwell, apart from china who else leaves the matt finish to the base of paperweight? Regards Roger.
