Title: ID Help. White lampwork flowers, gold aventurine(?) ground.
Post by: pooleandpaperweights on March 26, 2011, 07:11:18 PM
Hi all.

No idea what this was, but for £6 I thought I liked it enough to buy it.  So what did I buy????

Thanks :)
Ian.

p.s.  If anyone of Scotlands Glass fame etc want the images of the Vasart Boxed Bar set I sold a few weeks ago let me know.  Happy to have them used anywhere for reference.

Me thinks your spring bouquet is Murano.  A good get at £6; even better because you just like it!

Enjoy .... Lily   :)

Thanks, thought as much.  Am I right in thinking 60's/70's?

Ian

Hi Ian,

That was my thought too.  Is the base on this weight flat or slightly concave?  I cannot tell from the photo.  Anyone have any idea as to maker?

It hasnt been polished, and isnt flat.  Looks like it might of been fire polished like a strathearn/vasart weight.....

I have seen similar designs with flowers and stems over gold aventurine that were from Murano. The ones I recall has better defined millefiori flowers, and polished bases.  I don't think one should rule out China: there are now some quite neatly made pieces emerging, with much tidier bases than we have been used to, and some contain gold aventurine.
