Title: large iridescent bowl ?????
Post by: BRADBURY7308 on March 27, 2011, 06:13:18 PM
This bowl i purchased some time back and its a bit hard to find anything out about it. The diameter is 12 3/4" It has a polished pontil scar on the base and some wear to the outside of this. There are a fair few imperfections in the glass so i feel it must be of reasonable age would love to know a bit about it sadly ive got pictures but cant seem to reduce them enough to show you maybe a moderator could help please...

Sorry that no-one was about to pick up your shout for help - I just looked now when I'd finished work and see you have managed it anyhow, well done!  :hiclp: :hiclp: :hiclp:

It looks a bit like Bronze glass several firms made it including Webb , if it is Bronze glass it will be very heavy .

Nope, I have unmarked Webb stuff, so can confirm they didn't mark every item they produced. :)

Hi There,
Thankyou for taking the time to think about this piece of glass i understand its not always easy to just give an answer, As id said to anne i have owned two pieces both were marked as to the base thats all ive owned, The bowl does have a few manufacturing marks to the inside of the bowl from something touching it while it was being made also there is the odd particle in the glass here and there as ive never owned any old webb just 70s i guess im just wondering what the workmanship/ difficulty might be in producing a piece of this size??
