Title: Help to identify vase
Post by: Keencollector on March 28, 2011, 07:03:15 AM
This vase has a base colour of bottle green & is 4" high & 5"+ wide.  There is an applied lizard ? around outer middle and top rim has maybe a snake, narrow lizard or it could be just a pattern.  Has anybody seen this design before?

Hi and welcome!
Wonder if it´s an example of Thomas Webb´s bronze glass (~1885)? Let´s wait for one of our british experts to confirm...
Anyway it´s a lovely vase!!
Regards,
Dirk

Thanks for your reply Dirk.  I was hopful that it may be Thomas Webb or Richardsons as I did see an article on bronze or 'brain' glass.  I don't know if this is an early piece or if there have been copies of this colour glass.  Kind regards, Keencollector

Sorry to disappoint you Johnphillip but I may just have to keep it.  I am starting to like this ugly lizard.  This vase is quite heavy for it's size and I did think the lizard looked a bit simple in design to be from Thomas Webb.
