Title: Cranberry vase - cut and hand enamelled
Post by: heartofsklo on March 31, 2011, 12:26:41 PM
The vase is cranberry in colour, cut with some cuts being gilded. There is a lot of white hand enamelled flowers around the vase. The base is flat with quite a lot of age related scratches. It measures 22cm tall.

That is not what we know as cranberry, but rather ruby flash cut-to-clear with enameling and gilding. And quite a marvel of Bohemian artistry!

Judging by the base in this case, I would assume it is old or very old. How old is old and very old?  :chky:

I can find many cut to clear vases etc but none so far with similar enamelling, does the enamelling point to any smaller specific group of producers?
