Title: Freeform dish/ashtray - brilliant yellow - Murano?
Post by: 6****4 on April 02, 2011, 05:22:56 PM
Hello, my last post for an ID of a possible Murano item.

This item kinda appears to be an ashtray but may be a freeform dish instead.   It is brilliant yellow (that does not glow under blacklight).

Is this from a glassmaker of Murano?     The color does change depending on lighting as photos indicate.

As always, any information or leads are appreciated.

Thank you in advance!       I wish I had found this board years ago - thanks for giving of your time and expertise.

Yes, it is Murano glass. The bowl is slightly opaline, so it looks white under bright light. If you hold it to sunlight, I will probably have amber showing through -- opaline glass does that. I do not know who made your bowl. The "handles" underneath remind me of things made by Fratelli Toso. However, I'm not sure if other companies also did this.
