Title: 60/70's Blue Abstract Plate/Bowl - Czech? (Pressed Mark)...
Post by: kane_u_pain on April 02, 2011, 10:53:54 PM
Found this in a charity shop and decided to snap it up. Abstract plate/bowl in a very Czech looking colour. Has an odd mark on the base which I have never seen before and would be simply impossible to google. See the fabulous drawn example of the mark as it is too small to photograph. The plate/bowl is about 22cm in length and 3.7cm high...does anyone know who the maker is?

My thoughts are Czech but I am no expert on Czech glass. Has anyone seen this mark before on a piece of glass?

 :hi: Kane
I wonder whether this one is attracting you because it might be of Japanese origin? (jmho)
Turn the mark by 90° clockwise?  :ooh:

It's an extremely beautiful item btw!

Thanks pamela...i wish i could take a pic of the mark but it is all of 7mm long & 5mm wide. I hadn't though of Japanese at all to be honest just by the design and colour. Have also never seen this before. It is a great little plate/bowl so I will pack it away till an id is confirmed.

Kane if you rotate the mark 180 degress it would read KOF I think.  Don't know if that helps?

If you horizontal flip it you get KOT - maybe that rings bells?

No bells ringing...but I am sure it is more of a symbol than letters. More like makers mark...the serach continues...
