Title: Vintage Murano? smoking set - Ideas of Maker??
Post by: obscurities on April 03, 2011, 07:36:47 PM
Had this for a bit and looking to see if it can be ID'd.  These are the only pieces of Italian glass I own which have a dished pontil mark on the underside as show in the third pi.....  As seen in the images there is a pattern of large trapped bubbles in the decor......

Ashtray is  5 inches in diameter and 1.75 inches tall.
Lighter is 3.5 inches tall and 3 inches in diameter
Cigarette holder is 3 inches tall and 2.5 inches in diameter.

Ideas as to house??

TIA  Craig

The shape of the ashtray is one used by the Japanese quite a lot. I see these in solid colors a good bit. I suspect your set is Japanese.

Here is a yellow bullicante ashtray that was made in Japan if you want to compare: http://www.rubylane.com/item/61523-2510/Kreiss-Controlled-Bubble-Yellow-Ashtray. The ashtray has the Kreiss label. They were probably the ones marketing the ashtray. I don't know who made it for them. Their glass reminds me a lot of the Lefton glass.
